Help Nepal Effectively

A 9 USD water filter gives a family of five 12 months of safe drinking water

29 May 2015 update

On Monday 25 May the final batch of 90 water filters, of the total of 1,184 filters donated by PA International and transported for free by Qatar Airways, reached their new owners. Distribution partner CECI in Nepal handed them over to representatives of the Kopila Nepa/Brick Children School in Siddhipur near Patan.

If you would like to make a donation to help more Nepalese families, we kindly refer to PA International’s bank account in The Netherlands or to our Foundation’s new Indonesian bank account with the following details:

22 May 2015 update

In the past two days 854 water filters were distributed by CECI in the district of Sindhupalchowck, one of the most affected areas in Nepal (see map).

The filters were distributed in:

1) Maneswara Village Development Committee (VDC) of Sindhupalchowk (756 pieces)

2) Chautara (District HQ) of Sindhupalchowk (98 pieces)

CECI will be distributing the remaining filters (about 90) in other places of Maneswara VDC as it has a total of 941 households. As such, almost 100% of the families in this VDC will have received filters.

The water filters, which Qatar Airways had offered to transport from Jakarta to Kathmandu, were cleared from customs on 15 May. The delay was due to the strong aftershock that hit Nepal on 12 May. At that moment, the CECI team was in the field distributing relief items in the Sindhupalchowk District. The new earthquake caused massive land slides disrupting the distribution and the CECI team had to be rescued from the area. The distribution program was therefore put on hold for a number of days, also because the roads to the local villages were blocked by the landslides. As the debris was cleared by the government services, CECI could resume its distribution including of water filters in the week of 18 May 2015.

300.000 More Water Filters Urgently Needed

300,000 Nepalese families are still in dire need of clean water. How can this be resolved? Either by 300 companies or foundations like PA donating 10,000 USD; or through social media action with 300.000 persons each buying just one water filter for 9 USD. So for 9 USD you may prevent the death or disease of one child.

PA International will coordinate – no agency fee, no nothing – direct help

PA International initiated aid projects after 6 earthquakes and 3 tsunamis in areas with PA offices. PA does not have an office in Nepal but knows the area quite well. Therefore: if you wish to donate one or more water filters, please transfer your donation to the account of the PA International Foundation in The Netherlands, ABN AMRO NL88 ABNA 0495 5365 71. We pledge that any and all transfers are integrally and solely used for the purchase and transport of Nazava Water Filters to Nepal. We hope that Qatar Airways will be impressed by your dedication and will transport your water filters for free, as they do on 11th May 2015.
