On 2 March 2009 Sultan Qaboos Academic Chair Professor Dr. Ruud Schotting presented his Inaugural Lecture at Utrecht University. Preceding this event, a Sultan Qaboos Academic Chair seminar on 'Quantitative Water Management - Relevant Contributions to Society and Science' was organised in the Academiegebouw of Utrecht University. Prof. Ruud Schotting and Dr. Ir. Bert-Rik de Zwart of the Utrecht University Faculty of Earth Sciences have been awarded a Technology Transfer Award by the Leverhulme Trust (UK) "for the outstanding contribution to Technology Transfer made by research theses completed at higher education institutions in the Netherlands". The prize involves an amount of 63,000 Euro to be spent on further research activities.
